As we mature not only do we gain more knowledge and wisdom but our body will begin to show outward signs of the aging process and the affects of the environment on our skin, especially the skin of our face. Over time and through abuse our skin begins to lose it's ability to remain flexible, loses some of it's ability to be elastic and it begins to lose it's moisture. This will cause the skin to sag, begin to become thinner and dries out. However; in today's world there are many wonderful anti-aging products you can buy and treatments you can have to help correct this situation.

A lot of our wrinkles are simply cause by things that are preventable as well as natural factors that exist. Some can be caused from smoking, a lot are caused from stress, too much sun and even facial expressions. Free radicals can also be a major factor in speeding up the process of wrinkling, along with genetics.

If you can identify the kinds of wrinkles that you are suffering will help in treating them. If your skin is losing a lot of collagen then you might be suffering from atrophic crinkling rhytids and this causes the skin to get thin and fine lines begin to form. Crows feet as we all call those lines around the eyes or laugh line or frown lines are actually caused from the movement of our face with different expressions.

The wrinkles that seem to be embedded within the skin are permanent creases and can often be attributed to too much exposure to the harmful rays of the sun. Then there are the folds on the skin sometimes called gravitational ones because of the skin thinning is generally caused from the natural aging process. Once you understand the difference between these kinds of wrinkles it's easier to figure out how to treat each one.

Prevention is probably the best medicine when we are younger. Always make sure to wear a SPF lotion with at least a rating of 15 when you go out in the sun and make sure to wear sunglasses as well or even a hat if you plan to be out in the sun for a long time. Make sure that you drink lots of water every day and that your diet is well balanced. It's good to include soy and omega 3 in your diet as well.

Make sure that you have an exercise routine you follow no matter what kind of exercise, any and all types of exercise is beneficial. You also need to make sure that you give your body plenty of nightly rest by trying to get at least 7 hours of good sleep every night. Cut down on bad habits like smoking heavily or drinking heavily. Do your best to find things to do in your life that will also cut down on the stress factors in your life.

There are a variety of different things you can do to as treatment for wrinkles as well as removing certain kinds of wrinkles. For the lower depth of wrinkles like the fine lines you can simply buy any over the counter lotion or cream to give your skin back some of it's lost collagen, any products that contain retinol or alpha hydroxy acids will help promote smoother skin and will also feed the skin with the nourishment it needs.

If you feel your wrinkles are far too severe for any topical lotions then you should find a dermatologist that is trusted by others you might know and visit him to find out the different kinds of treatments that might work for your particular case. Remember, every treatment that is available will not only vary in the cost but also in how effective it is and how long it will last.
